Natural Geographic or National Geographic?
I guess it is an easy mistake to make, calling National Geographic Magazine “Natural Geographic Magazine” instead. Many of National Geographic’s articles do deal with “natural” subjects, from exotic species to America’s national parks, so slipping on the title wording is not a big deal.
Anyway, National Geographic is a fantastic source for articles on just about every cultural, historical, and scientific subject you can think of. If you take time to look at old National Geographics, you can get a picture of our world from generations past.
The October 1949 issue is a good example. Its article titled “Busy Fairbanks Sets Alaska’s Pace” gives a snapshot into Alaska’s biggest city ten years before Alaska was granted statehood. This entire issue is devoted to subjects of the far north, from Quebec to arctic nomads to a personal narrative by Willie Knutsen titled “Milestones in My Arctic Journeys.”
All fascinating reading.
